Arnold Schwarzenegger to star as cartoon crime-fighter in The Governator

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been transformed into a crime-fighting cartoon character called The Governator. The animated series, which is due to hit TV screens next year, marks Schwarzenegger’s first step back into showbiz since he stepped down as Governor of California in January. In the animated series, his cartoon alter ego decides to transform himself into a superhero after leaving the Governor’s office and sets up a crime-fighting control centre underneath his home, which he runs with his wife and children. The Governator character has been co-developed by Stan Lee and The Chipmunks producer Andy Heyward. Lee, 88, who has created iconic characters including Spider-Man, The Hulk and Iron Man, told a US magazine: “We’re using all the elements of Arnold’s life. We’re using his wife. We’re using his kids. We’re using the fact that he used to be Governor. “Only after he leaves the Governor’s office, Arnold decides to become a crime-fighter and builds a secret high-tech crime-fighting control centre under his house in Brentwood.” Talking about the cartoon series, Schwarzenegger said: “When I ran for Governor back in 2003 and I started hearing people talking about The Governator, I thought the word was so cool. “The word ‘Governator’ combined two worlds – the world of politics and the movie world. The cartoon brings everything together. It combines the Governor, The Terminator, the body-building world, the True Lies.” The 63-year-old actor added: “I love the idea of a control centre below my house with a path, so that boats and submarines can go right into the ocean. In the cartoon, my house is much closer to the beach than where we live, but you know, it’s a cartoon.”
