Usher, Eddie Murphy and Chris Brown are just some of the names that are reportedly frontrunners to play James Brown in a new biopic. The big screen version of the late King of Soul's life has been discussed since 2006 and a leading man for the Spike Lee directed film is still yet to be cast. James' daughter Dr Yanna Brown told Artisan News: "We have talked to several people, Eddie Murphy being one of them. In a comedic role, I guess it would have to be Eddie, who would do Dad justice. Chris Brown did such a great interpretation of Night Train at the Grammy Awards, I just thought he was wonderful." Wesley Snipes had been considered for the role, but legal problems meant the family had to look for other options. Yanna added: "I think Usher, more so than anybody, holds near and dear to our family. My dad coined him the godson of soul. Usher is a family friend, we just love him and we are possibly thinking about him for the biopic. "We are looking at what is going to be the best thing for Dad's brand. At the end of the day, it will be a great film."
